2023 to 2025: our hat-trick of Contracting Awards wins!

You’ll never guess what (as if you can’t tell by the headline!). We’ve only gone and won the Contracting Awards’ “Best Contractor Mortgage Provider or Broker” award…
…again!

That makes it the third time in successive years. It’s also twice as many times as anyone else has ever won this prestigious award! So, yes: we’re celebrating all our wins!

But, it’s not only about us (well, mostly it is). Still, we can’t ignore the parts other parties played. Here’s the background that laid the foundations for a terrific awards ceremony:

November 12th, 2025: the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The ceremony itself is getting bigger and better every year. More categories, more awards, more sponsorship, more potential partners. I’m pleased to say that, this year, we’ve had a hand in all aspects:

Our award: “Best Contractor Mortgage Provider or Broker”

In 2019, the inaugural mortgage and protection category had just three entrants. This year, we had to beat four other companies to retain our accolade. That makes winning again just that little bit more special.

So, how did we do it? Well, what was once a closely-guarded secret is now up on this year’s winners’ page (thanks, Contracting Awards!).

This quote from said page hints at why we won the award again:
Freelancer Financials has won the top-performing mortgage broker award in the Mortgage Intelligence Awards for 11 consecutive years.

To stay ahead, the firm has launched three new services to clients:

Stop it. You’re making us blush! But, yes: we’ll take that.

So much more than awards…

So, that was our host’s perspective of us. Anyone would think we wrote it ourselves (we didn’t, honest!). But, if you’ve been following us this year, you’ll know there’s more to our story than that.

In addition to Contracting Awards’ kind summary, we consider our biggest steps forward this year have been:

The combination of all these factors has hugely lessened our reliance on ‘being found online’.

Don’t get me wrong, providing essential mortgage services online is still our top priority. However, we’re now leveraging more IRL relationships to reach more flexible workers than ever before. And on that note…

For several years, we’ve been providing both mortgages and ground-breaking insight to Contractor UK’s members through their ‘Money‘ category. You can find a full list of my published articles over there on my author profile page.

It seems only fitting, then, that Contractor UK sponsored this year’s “Best Contractor Mortgage Provider or Broker“.

So, we’d first like to thank them for their support of our category. But also for the opportunities they give us to keep their readership up to date with the specialist mortgage industry.

In addition, we’ve always believed in paying it forward. To that end, it gave us great pleasure to sponsor the “Best Contractor Accountancy (500 – 1,000 Clients)” this year.

The winners were ICS Accounting, so a huge congratulations to them! Again, serendipity was smiling upon us. ICS lists amongst its clients:

Our partners’ awards

Two of our current partners also won big, so a huge congratulations to them.

Qdos, one of our longest-standing partners, is a leading authority in the UK on tax, compliance, and IR35. This year, they won the “Best Legal, Compliance or Tax Provider” award.

Seb Maley and his team have faithfully served the contractor industry for years, and are truly deserving winners.

And one of our newest partners, FCSA, won the “Best Supplier To The Contracting Industry” award.

Here’s the Contracting Awards’ introduction to this innovative organisation:

FCSA is the UK’s leading membership body for professional employment service providers. They support umbrella companies, contractor accountants and CIS providers who, in turn, deliver vital services to over 220,000 contractors.

In the coming year, we aim to strengthen our relationships with these two organisations, our other existing partners, and new ones. Together, we can turn industry potential into action through new and existing alliances.

Before I forget

And, lest we forget, a big thank you to all our customers, past, present, and those yet to discover us. Without you, what we’ve achieved to date would mean little. We’d also have little motivation to continue to up our game. It’s you at the heart of everything we do.

And, with that, it brings the curtain down on the 2025 awards. But keep your eyes on us this year. We’re only just tapping into our own potential, and hope to make it a fourth successive year in 2026.

Once again, thank you to everyone who makes these awards possible. This feather in our cap genuinely means a lot to us and motivates us to improve our services, year in, year out. So, watch this space. We’re nowhere near done, yet.
