Our fees
- We do not charge fees for your initial consultation
- We do not charge fees if you ‘Product Switch’ your mortgage with us
- If there is a fee, we’ll only ask for it when we submit your mortgage application
- Read on for clarification of which products we do (and don’t) charge for

We do not charge a fee for the initial client consultation
It’s not in our nature to charge customers for an initial chat or to pick our brains. And, during that chat, we’ll outline what fees might apply to you and why based on your enquiry.
We only charge for services directly linked to getting your mortgage. That’s why we only charge our broker fee at the point of the final mortgage application (not the Decision in Principle).
We do not charge for your initial consultation or for Product Switches. This includes securing a product switch/transfer with your existing lender.
When and where our fees apply
We will charge a broker fee for arranging both residential and buy-to-let mortgages at the point of submitting the final application to the lender.
Our broker fee incorporates the heavy lifting, so you don’t have to. It covers:
- Extensive research to find the best mortgage for your unique situation
- The inherent market knowledge and access we’ve nurtured since 2004
- The advice we give, based on getting to understand you, your situation and your goals
- Packaging and administering your mortgage application to specialist underwriters
- Communication with the key players at every step, including estate agents, conveyancing solicitors and valuers
Why there is no one set broker fee
Freelancer Financials is a specialist mortgage broker. As such, we provide a vast array of mortgage products. To do that, we have to deal with specialist underwriting teams at many lenders. Different lenders charge different rates, depending on particular products or policies.
That said, our standard broker fee for a new mortgage/remortgage is typically £599. If your fee is going to differ, we’ll tell you at the earliest stage possible.
Your eventual fee will accommodate these key factors:
- How much you want to take out a mortgage for
- The type of property you’re looking to buy
- Your unique personal situation
- Your credit score/history
